Origin and Terroir The grapes for this blend grow in the vineyards around the ‘Göttweiger Berg‘ in the southern Kremstal. The vineyards grow on soil which mainly consists of chalky gravel covered by a massive layer of loess. The warm Pannonian climate from the east creates a very unique micro-climate to the Danube valley. The combination of the well-suited soil pared with the unique micro-climate is the foundation for healthy and physiologically ripe grapes. Vinification The blend is composed of the varieties Zweigelt, St.Laurent and Merlot. The grapes were harvested at the latest moment possible, as the grapes in the vineyard have already been selected several times. In the cellar, the grape material was destemmed and subjected to a classic maceration. After some time, the fermented wine could be pressed. The malolactic fermentation was completed in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The young red wine was then filled into 225L oak barrels (2/3 used and 1/3 new wood), there it was allowed to mature for 24 months before being bottled. Tasting notes Ruby color in the glass, beautiful scents of berries and fine spices develop in the nose, nice tannin tones, powerful and complex with notes of sour cherry on the palate; a full-bodied blend with aging potential. Drink and meal recommendation This blend is a perfect match with hearty dishes. It harmonizes also very well with venison and any kind of mushroom dish. If you just want to enjoy a great glass of red wine, Diana Große Reserve should be your first choice for any occasion.
