Grüner Veltliner Bergkristall 2015

Origin and Terrain

The grapes are from our ecologically run vineyards situated around the ‘Göttweiger Berg‘ in the south of the Krems valley. Here the character of the Grüner Veltliners has the potential to devlop due to the hight temperature fluctuations between night and day. This unique climate ensures the development of the very charactaristic flavor of this grape. Not only the climate but also the closeness to the Danube and the hearty clay soil contribute to the refined taste.

Wine Making

Harvest time for this particular ‘Grüner Veltliner Bergkristall‘ was the middle of October. Special attention was given to the full ripening of the grape and only fully matured grapes were allowed to travel from the vineyard to the press. After the grapes were cut from the vine the fruit was rushed to the cellar to be immediately pressed. The exposure of the must to the environment was kept to a minimum. First fining to the must was completed before a temperature controlled fermentation took place in the steel tank. In December the wine was pulled from the tank and allowed to rest on the lees deposit for a short period of time before being carefully bottled.
