The family run Müller winery is located in the southern part of the Kremstal wine region in the picturesque village of Krustetten. It is managed by the brothers Leopold and Stefan Müller. The responsibilities are clearly structured: Stefan is the vineyard manager and Leopold is winemaker and sales manager. Our philosophy is to work in harmony with nature in a sustainable and respectful manner. The diverse soil and micro climatic conditions on the hills surrounding the Göttweig Abbey, in the southern Kremstal wine region, require us to care for every vineyard individually and to fully understand each site in relation to soil, exposure and grape variety. Our knowledge that has accumulated over several generations allows us to produce superior grape quality with distinct and exciting character.
Origin and Terroir
The grapes are from our single vineyard „Fuchaberg“. This south-easterly vineyard site is dominated by loess soil and chalky gravel in the subsoil The gentle hill of “Fuchaberg” offer ideal conditions for fruitful and full-bodied wines – barren weathered rocks sore the heat in this sun drenched site and the exposed location allows the wind to dry the vines quickly after a rain shower.
The grapes were picked, rushed to the cellar and then gently processed and the must was temperature controlled fermented in stainless steel tanks. At the end of the fermentation the “Chardonnay Fuchaberg” was racked into big oak casks and was allowed to mature and develop its full aroma on the fine lees..
Medium yellow in the glass, flavor of tropical fruits in the nose, very complex and powerful on the palate; quite substantial, a convincingly long and spicy finish with small hints of tobacco.
Drink and Meal Recommendation
Our Chardonnay Ried Fuchaberg is a perfect companion to hearty dishes, for example roasted pork or any kind of venison dish.
