Diana Große Reserve 2015
Origin and Terroir
The grapes for this blend grow in the vineyards around the ‘Göttweiger Berg‘ in the southern Kremstal. The vineyards grow on soil which mainly consists of chalky gravel covered by a massive layer of loess. The warm Pannonian climate from the east creates a very unique micro-climate to the Danube valley. The combination of the well-suited soil pared with the unique micro-climate is the foundation for healthy and physiologically ripe grapes.
The varieties for this particular blend are Zweigelt, St. Laurent and Merlot.
The grapes were harvested in October and were destemmed when arriving in the cellar. A classic mash fermentation was completed and the wine was able to mature in small oak barrels for 18 months.
Ruby color in the glass, beautiful scents of berries and fine spices develop in the nose, nice tannin tones, powerful and complex with notes of sour cherry on the palate; a full-bodied blend with aging potential.
