Origin and Terroir The grapes originate from our sustainable managed vineyard site Alte Point in the Wachau. This single vineyard is located in the south-eastern part of the Wachau wine region between the Roman village of Mautern and the Göttweig Abbey. The warm climate in this basin location supports the ripening process of the grapes. The minerality of this Veltiner is given by the weathered rock that extends throughout the soil. The subsoil consists of warm gravel from the former Danube river flow. Vinification The grapes were selectively hand-picked, destemmed and pressed without long maceration. This resulted in a very fruity-fresh must with a pleasant spiciness. The fermentation was completed in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After a short time on the fine lees, the wine was racked, filtered and stored in steel tanks until bottling. Tasting notes Light green-yellow in the glass, opens up in the nose with a wide range of different fruit aromas including grapefruit but also tones of garden herbs and excellent minerals. The palate is spoiled by a beautiful distinction and finesse, delicate nuances of apples and pears in the finish. Drink and Meal Recommendation A perfect companion to hearty meat dishes like ‘Wiener Schnitzel’ (breaded veal) or stew. Also by the glass without food pairing this Grüner Veltliner will not disappoint.
