Diana 2013

Origin and Terrain

The grapes used for this blend are harvested from the vineyards around the ‘Göttweiger Berg‘in the southern Kremsvalley. The vineyards grow on soil which is mainly grounded by gravel and covered by a layer of hearty clay. The warm Pannonian climate from the East creates a very unique micro-climate to the Danube valley. The combination of the well suited ground pared with the unique micro-climate is the foundation for health and physiological ripe grapes.

The varieties for this particular blend are Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The grapes were harvested by the middle of October. We destemmed the grapes and started a classic must fermentation. After several days fermentation was finished and we could press it. After that our blend went through malolactic fermentation. The wine was stored and matured in small oak barrels for 16 month.
