Origin and Terroir This blend is composted of the varieties Zweigelt, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes originate from our sustainable managed vineyards around the Göttweiger Berg in the southern Kremstal. The hills surrounding the Göttweiger Berg provide diverse soil and micro-climatic conditions. The vineyards grow mainly on warm gravel soil with a thick layer of loess on top. Especially the influence of the warm Pannonian climate from the east and the microclimate of the Danube valley positively influence the ripening of the grapes. Vinification For this blend, the grapes were harvested at the latest possible moment, as the grapes in the vineyard have already been selected several times. In the cellar, the grape material was destemmed and subjected to a classic maceration. After some time, the fermented wine could be pressed. The malolactic fermentation was completed in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The young red wine was then filled into 225L and 300L oak casks (2/3 used and 1/3 new wood), there it was allowed to mature for 18 months before being bottled. Tasting notes Dark ruby garnet in the glass, beautiful scents of berries and fine spices develop in the nose, nice tannin tones, powerful and substantial on the palate; a full-bodied blend with aging potential Drink- and meal recommendation This wine is a perfect companion to all dark meat dishes with hearty sauces. It goes very well with venison and mushroom dishes. The Diana blend is also the right wine for special occasions!
